img_3545And so, just like that, another two months have passed by. Well, maybe not quite JUST like that… So many things have happened that in some ways it feels like a lot longer – but, as always, in other ways it feels like a lifetime. I do find that common parenting mantra “The days are long but the years are short” so apt sometimes.

So, in an effort to ease my way back in to this space here comes a post about some of what’s been going on in and around my life of late…

img_3566Settling into a new house – At the end of July we made the move to a new house in a different area – close to day care and a great school, a super dooper playground, shops (including a bottle shop thank you very much!!), a cute cafe, walking tracks and a really nice community vibe. Our new place has a great deck out the back with glimpses of water views that I am already planning to spend a lot of time on as summer rolls around. We are very happy in our new little space – even if we are still surrounded by unpacked boxes – but by god moving sucks big time!!!!

img_3345Sweet Pea Turned 4!!! – Not long after our move (3 days to be exact) our little girl became a medium girl by turning the ripe old age of 4! I still can’t quite believe it and have been spending a lot of time looking at videos of her when she was much younger lamenting the loss of my toddler. With 4 has come even more of a sassy attitude (surely there can’t be much more hiding in there??!!!) and many more questions, challenges and pushing of limits. But, to keep an eye on balance, I can see such a strong, determined, gutsy little girl growing before my eyes. As one of her day care teachers recently said to me – “It’s always going to be on her terms and there’s just nothing we can do about it”. Yep!

img_3673Cooking – A revolting stomach flu that hit me a few weeks ago has had me rethinking my everyday food consumption – nothing like the arrival of giardia to have you reevaluating your priorities!! We had become so reliant on “quick fix” meals and snacks – no one had felt like cooking after long days at work and we had snuck into some bad habits. I’m trying to slowly reverse this by digging out some of my cook books and having a go at creating meals that are yummy and easy. And you know what – I’m actually having some fun! You should probably check in with the other members of my household to see if what I’m putting on the table is edible though…

img_3675Working – I’ve set up my new work space at home and am in the process of planning some new work ideas and adventures…

img_3549Reading – My constant companion. Always.

img_3641 img_3605 img_3649A Beach Holiday – We recently took a week off work and spent a few days away in Kiama – it was glorious! Never underestimate the power of simply getting away. It was just what we all needed to recharge. We will definitely be back Kiama…

How about you? What’s been happening in your life lately?

I love setting up a new house. Not so much love for packing up the old one though. September has been so busy (argh, the B word) but I think that is just how the end of every year rolls. It is kind of fun. :)

I agree – it is kind of fun to have so much to think about and do – just got to keep a handle on it all!!

It took me four weeks to pack up our house in Canberra {although I did cull a lot} and two days to unpack it all {whilst being 25 weeks pregnant}.

Oh Shari – that’s amazing!! I can’t imagine going through the moving process while being pregnant. Although doing it with a 3 year old is interesting too…
