A Love Affair with Paris

Paris In July 002

I have been to Paris exactly once. In 2009 for 4 days. It was a brief but passionate affair. From the first bus ride from the airport through the city to our hotel La Demure on Blvd St Marcel I was captivated with this city – it’s architecture, it’s history, it’s people, it’s essence of romance, luxury and literature. I never wanted to leave – unfortunately packaged holiday deals require that you do leave and reality enforces you back to your home, your job, your life.

Paris in July helps me to carry on the magic. For a whole month I can live, breathe, eat and read Paris – allowing myself a fantasy trip back to the city that captured my heart and my mind. Allowing myself a break from the everyday realities that sometimes threaten to overwhelm me with their mundaneness. And although washing still needs to be done, babies fed and floors swept during July at least I can carry out these tasks knowing that there is a tiny piece of Paris waiting for me through my day…

So what do you say – are you coming to Paris with me in July?

Oh Paris! I can so relate to your love affair. I’ve been a few times and the last visit was with the whole family. Yep three kids in tow and it made me love it even more. Seeing this city through the eyes of a child opens up more wonder! I’m intrigued by Paris in July. What is it?

I can’t wait to take our little girl to Paris – I hope she loves it as much as me! Paris in July is a blogging event I run with one of my best friends each July – this will be our 5th year. It’s basically a chance for us to celebrate and experience all the things we love about Paris/France. You should join in!
