Come with me to Paris…

Paris In July 001

In my previous blogging life over at BookBath I co-created and hosted a regular event with one of my dearest friends, Tamara, that focused on our love of Paris and all things French. A Wondering Life will be continuing the tradition with an event that celebrates the joy and wonder that is Paris. Paris in July is a month filled with Parisian gorgeousness – food, wine, fashion, art, travel – and most importantly to me, books and literature. I would love for you to join us as we wander to Paris for our 5th year…

This year we will be talking, sharing and blogging about books, food, travel, perfume, films, music, favourite markets, poetry, history and almost anything else with a Paris or French flavor – it really is like a virtual trip to Paris – and who could resist that?

This year, we’re excited to welcome two new team members, making this a truly virtual and global event. Dolce Bellezza joins us from USA with her wealth of experiencing in blogging and her love of French perfume and literature. Adria will also be joining us with her voice as an author in Paris – Adria is an American living in Paris, and we’re excited she’s joining the team with her Parisian perspectives.

How does it all work? As the title suggests, the event runs for the month of July, and during that time all you need to do is link in to one of the host blogs and share your French themed contributions. You might be posting about a French book you have read, a recipe that tastes divine, a piece of music or art you have enjoyed or a personal travel experience – the options really are endless. We try to keep things as casual as possible during Paris in July – there are no real rules or expectations – just drop in when you can and enjoy the trip!

As there is every year we will have some special events throughout the month and some wonderful prizes to be won. Each of the team members here at Paris in July will be joining in with special topics:

Me – Fashion and books

Dolce Bellezza – Perfume and she promises some give aways!!

Adria – Life in Paris and reflections as an author

Tamara – Travel and Food

So – start planning, dreaming and preparing for our virtual journey to Paris. We look forward to travelling with you! Please feel free to leave a comment at the bottom to let us know of your interest. I will be posting more in the coming weeks to get us ready for our departure on the 1st July…

Hi Karen, so excited for the event to begin! I’ve already started scouring my shelves for French themed books; I have fiction (Almost French) and nonfiction (On The Rue Tatin) and can hardly decide where to begin. Probably with my many perfume books, as that is a deep seated passion. It’s so fun to see what everyone posts about; I always learn so much about this wonderful country. Thanks for hosting it for five years!

So excited you are joining Tamara and I with hosting this event Meredith! I’m starting to pull together some novels for the month. The one I am most excited about is Lovers at the Chameleon Club by Francine Prose.

I’ve just found your blog from Blogging with Pip and the timing seems so fortuitous. We’re going (very briefly!) to Paris in January and I can’t wait to read about all things Parisian in July to get lots of inspiration and ideas of what to see and do!

That’s fantastic Kirsty – so jealous of your real trip to Paris however brief! I hope our little event helps you to get even more excited about your trip.

I’ll be looking for a book or two to join in your Paris in July. Perhaps The Painted Girls by Cathy Buchanan, or something else? Some of my favorite books from the last few July’s have been The Paris Wife, Z: Zelda, and Half-Blood Blues.

I have a special fondness for Paris myself and hope to visit again in person next spring. However… I am ready to take a virtual tour this summer – remembering past journeys and anticipating new ones. Thank you so much for maintaining this summer tradition. I like forward to participating.

I’d like to join in! I was looking at a puzzle of Paris today at Barnes and Noble….It was a really cool, 3D puzzle. You build a miniature Eiffel Tower and put it on a map/puzzle of the city.

  1. […] Paris in July helps me to carry on the magic. For a whole month I can live, breathe, eat and read Paris – allowing myself a fantasy trip back to the city that captured my heart and my mind. And although washing still needs to be done, babies fed and floors swept during July at least I can carry out these tasks knowing that there is a tiny piece of Paris waiting for me through my day… […]
